    Abstract

Following the success of her sharply observed microfiction collection, Dinner Time, Holly Howitt delivers another book marked by its intelligence, wit and disturbing candour. The Schoolboy is not for the faint hearted. The narrative follows Nick in his last year at school. Plagued by secrets, self doubt, guilt and fury, the flaws in his character inevitably lead him into the hands of the damaged, unscrupulous and malevolent. With his options rapidly closing Nick, as insecure as he is angry, has to make decisions fast. A psychological study that is both disturbing and gripping from one of Wales’ most talented young writers.
