Abstract
It is a sad but arguably welcome irony that while in the world at large infectious and cardiovascular diseases are still the main natural premature killers, those forms of progress that distinguish the ‘developing’ from the ‘developed’ countries bring with them an increasing health burden in the form of cancer.
