The relationship between education and everyday decision outcomes

Education is thought to improve transferable thinking skills (e.g. critical thinking, logical reasoning) alongside subject-specific knowledge and skills. In this study I will measure real-world decision outcomes in 31-40 year old UK adults and investigate whether those outcomes differ depending on whether participants have a university degree or not, which subject participants studied at university, and which degree classification they received. This will provide initial evidence on whether or not university study influences the quality of day-to-day decision making in the subsequent years.

This data will help to motive a grant application to the Nuffield Foundation in September 2024 for two larger, longitudinal studies.
