Reproductive Justice Symposium

Project Details

Description

In the current geopolitical context, reproductive autonomy has become increasingly precarious. The event sought to interrogate the various assemblages that contribute to reproductive injustices. This hybrid symposium brought together specialists on reproductive politics and relied on the optimism that problematizing these formations is the key step in finding solutions to social needs. The event was unique in terms of the diversity of perspectives entailing the Global North and South. It appealed to a broad audience interested in issues of reproductive labour, cost of social reproduction and feminization of social care in the era of biomedical technocracy.

The goal of the symposium was to engage with the various aspects of reproductive rights. By bringing together speakers researching ways by which the struggle towards reproductive freedom is fraught with domestic policy constraints, global market conditions and devaluation of reproductive labour, this symposium tried to provide an enriched understanding of reproductive justice.
