P2X7: The front line therapeutic in soft tissue trauma (Wound Healing)

Project Details

Description

Modulation of the P2X7 purinoceptor (P2RX7), the key mediator of the “damage response”, can prevent the destructive inflammatory reaction including downstream heterotopic ossification. The aim of this proposal is to investigate P2X7 in soft tissue survival and regeneration using pharmacological modulators and a unique P2X7 knock-in/knock-out mouse, which allows tag-mediated immunolocalisation of P2X7 and cell-specific and/or conditional knockouts using Cre expressing strains.
