Personal profile

Summary

With 10 years of experience in Further Education (FE), designing and leading educational programs in Hospitality and Business, I commenced my role at the University of Portsmouth in 2019. At the university, I hold the position of leading the Academic Skills Tutoring team for the Faculty of Business and Law. (port.ac.uk/bal-ast)

I have a particular interest in student transitions, and as a Governor of Portsmouth's only 'all through' school, see the impact of managing these well, from early years through to doctoral levels. My primary focus centres on students progressing from Level 3 to Level 4 studies and onwards to Postgraduate levels. In this context, my focus is to ensure that students are proactively equipped with skills needed for their studies while working to identify and reduce barriers to their success.

At present, my research is centred on investigating the unique requirements and challenges faced by international students pursuing Postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.
