Description of Activity

Contributing toward the series of statutory environmental reports required under Environmental Impact stages of the Bolton Wastewater Treatment Works development to provide additional wastewater infrastructure and a new storm water outfall to the River Irwell. A fish population and passage assessment report was authored to support the planning application (Client: United Utilities). The report aims to provide an initial evidence base on the fisheries community composition of the watercourse, and to assess the risks associated with the planned scheme on fish habitat and passage. The report also identifies the remaining data/evidence gaps and provides future recommendations as to how these should be addressed, and where necessary identifies suitable mitigation measures in order to reduce any potential risks associated with the planned scheme.
